You

Hello Mike,

Here is the answer from our website.

Initially, there will be two STC’s for skyBeacon installation. The first STC is for the Cessna 172, followed by the Piper PA28. These high and low-wing installations satisfy the FAA requirements and will enable subsequent skyBeacon installations to be performed on any “suitable aircraft” without STC, as a minor alteration.

A suitable aircraft supports the installation of the skyBeacon without airframe modification.

See mounting template for a 1:1 scale drawing to help you make this determination.

It is now listed on the FAA site for the rebate.

Hope that helps.

UavioniX is now stating the Sky Beacon is eligible for the $500 rebate offered by the faa soon.

This would drop the cost from $1849 to $1349 if all went well during installation and the certification flight.

This is much more reasonable. Just a few years ago, it would have been hard to get any system installed in a certified aircraft for less than $5000.

Things are (hopefully) getting better. Sometimes it PAYS to procrastinate...

RUMOR ALERT:

I heard on another aviation web site that GARMIN and UavioniX may have settled and reached some sort of agreement out of court?

Does anyone know more about this, if true? Hard to find anything more specific...

Thanks in advance. Mike N714AJ

A buddy of mine ordered the tail unit SkyBeacon...was told it would SHIP in November.  He has a Cherokee 140.

This will be the first one in our area....we are all waiting to see it in action!

I am still waiting to see the SkyBeacon (wingtip) STC issued.  The TailBeacon would follow that.
