We've discussed tablets here, but I haven't heard anyone mention the issue I'm having with two of my Android tablets. Namely, sluggishness when panning the map.

I would be curious to see if I am one of the few having this issue.

Brian and the IFLY staff are working on the issue.

John,

I reported this issue on my Samsung Tab A, and Tab S when 10.3 beta first came out.  Brian said at that time it was probably related to some enhancements that were included in 10.3 and would look at dialing them back.  Looking forward to a patch for 10.3 or the next version 10.4.

The Samsung Tab S 10.5 inch model (SM-T800) has wonderful color, great response times and almost all-around winner.  On my second battery in it.  :)  However, as I've had it a few years now, the internal "RAM" at 16 GB is about maxed out.  Every time there is an iFly update, I have to fiddle with it (move other app updates to the SD card) to get the newest update to load.  Quite tedious.  That is mostly to 1) the number of apps I have loaded to help with the various things I have to do in life, but mostly to 2) all the <censored><censored> bloat that Samsung puts in the beast and doesn't ALLOW them to be moved over onto the SD card!!!  PLENTY of room in the 64 GB SD card.

So there is more info to help you in your choices.  All Android tablets have this <censored> bloatware loaded from the factory.  Grrrr.

I finally gave up on the iPad (won't consistantly connect to the Stratux WiFi and won't share flight plans on any WiFi with the iFly 740, Android, or Windows) and bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 in 8" with 16GB and WiFi only.

It mounts in the same RAM tray that the iPad sat in, which is very nice. It works great, shares plans with everything, is brighter than the old iPad, is easier for me to locate checklists and use them, etc. So far, it's a winner.

I don't have an anti-glare film on it yet, we'll see if it's needed. We didn't this afternoon going around the pattern, but that's not a great test. It's sitting at the front right corner of the panel and windshield in an old C182.
