For me, it's easiest to simply avoid (course or altitude) these Sport TFR's (unless I'm talking to ATC). But the OP was about Alerts, not so much the TFR's themselves.

I can't avoid where the events are... I fly around the city almost daily, except when any of the TFR's are active. iFly supposedly knows when the TFR is active or not, it's got a brown ring instead of red. I just think if the event is not active (brown ring) it shouldn't be giving me alerts that I'm approaching or in the TFR.

I think the answer from iFly is going to be that "it is virtually impossible for iFly to know when public events are scheduled at sporting events." (E.g., a baseball game that goes into extra innings.) It's my observation that most of the EFB manufacturers (if not all) simply warn you of where stadiums are and it's up to you to determine whether it's safe to fly over.

As for the Alerts, you can always turn them off for Stadium TRF's.

And, per the 9.4.36b release on 1/16/16, it listed this fix:
- Fixed a couple TFR bugs. Now inactive ones show up with Brown header, and do not trigger alerts.

I'm reporting that I still get alerts on inactive TFRs.

Ahhh... good catch on the "live" Stadium TFR's. (I can't keep up with the improvements.) I've never notice one go non-brown. But I guess they do. And thanks for pointing me back to your original squawk. I didn't understand it the first time.
