I was dissapointed that this feature wasn't included in the new version.  It works quite well in Foreflight: you only get voice alerts from traffic within 1.8 nm and ±1200 ft.  For me this is about the distance where I can comfortably see and avoid another small aircraft visually.  

Then again Foreflight costs $200 per year (if you want terrain included)!  I also think the iFly interface is superior overall.

I flew in a 182 yesterday that had vocal warnings for traffic.  It drove me nuts when near an airport.  Just as you are setting up the approach, this thing barks at you and won't stop. I vote for no vocal warnings.

It would seem that, like many other features of iFly, you would be able to not have the verbal warnings at all.  Also, iFly typically turns off traffic alerts and the like within a certain distance of airports.
