Someone on this forum said they got a clear test of their Navworx unit so I did the PAPR test on mine.

Had to go in and turn off the anonymous mode in VFR mode so they could see my ID.

After the flight I pulled up the FAA test site and just entered the required data and within 15 minutes they had sent me the results. I have printed them out and will keep them with my aircraft documentation,

Now I am curious as to why the FAA has issues with Navworx when they give the unit a passing grade???

Now I am wondering if someday, when they privatize and institute user fees, will ADS-B inputs allow them to know when to charge us for usage?

I have, in my files, (2) "clean" reports from the FAA on my NAVWORX unit in my RV-6A ---- and I really like the awareness provided by the traffic and weather on my 740s.  I continue to wait for the FAA decision on the unit.

 

In response to your last comment/question --- there will be aircraft, in the future, flying without ADS-B, just as many do not currently fly with Mode "C", or "A" --- because they fly in airspace where those units are not required.  So, not sure how the FAA would go about "charging" for services..

Hopefully, the FAA and/or ATC will never be privatized. That's a goal of less than 1/2 the voters.

Aircraft that fly where transponders aren't required wouldn't be using any air traffic facilities so wouldn't be charged anyway.
