The iFly 700 is a very good GPS NAV device. I have had one in my RV9 for at least 5 years. I believe it was one of the factory refurbished one at that time. I also have a Garmin 396 in the radio stack and actually use the iFly 700 closer in view along side the Dynon 180. For me that was the most difficult task to be able to get the 700 somewhere i could get a good visual. Not as clear as the 720 but still good. The portrait position also helped me utilize the 700. I would However draw the line with the 700 as being suitable for a serial device connection for ADS B. I have not had total success with the 700 as that platform. It will work but not without a lot of problems with system processing and i believe it to be short on memory for that service. My experience has been with the SkyRadar DX . I placed a number of post on the SkyRadar forum concerning my effort to get this working so far without complete success. I actually would like to sell this 700 say $250 and buy the iFly 720 Interested? Without a doubt the 700 is probably the best VFR value out there for a simple to use NAV / map/ GPS. The latest software works great on the older 700 . I have no regrets with the 700 at all. Dennis

Dennis,

Give me me a call this week in the office. I think we can work something out with you on a trade-in on a 720 that will get you close to what you want. Call me at 888-200-5129 and press 2 for sales. My name is Shane. Have a good evening.

The good and the bad of the Ipad is it's size.

More bad than good in this case. No chance of mountin' that thing in my cockpit.

You are aware there are two sizes to the iPad, are you not? I've been happily using a full-size iPad in my cockpit for 3 years. But at this point there are probably more mini users, at least the newer ones. I expect the expansion of iFly's product line to include the iPad and Android platforms is a response to the sheer numbers of users who disagree with you.

Let me start off by saying that I am hooked on the iFly700....and I don't even own one yet. I'm sure I will be purchasing your fine product within the next few months, however, I still need to examine the options out there. Walter - have you done any side-by-side comparisons to other products (specifically the iPad/FF combo)? If so, is this something you can publish? From what I've seen the iPad option seems to be alot of 'fluff' and may be lacking some important features. With your version 5 release, I don't know how it can compete with the iFly700.

Since I've tried about every iPad and Android EFB app there is, I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have. I will agree that most of the newer features are fluff, but that's because the primary apps have reached a level of maturity, especially in the IFR world, that Adventure Pilot admits it is aiming for (one of the things that is likely to make me a permanent user).

What features do you see as "lacking" in the iPad apps you have seen based on your research?
