Is there (existing or planned) a method to locate a waypoint on the Map page other than wiping out the existing flight plan with a "Direct"?

One explanatory scenario (there are many others):

IFR flight from, ATC instructs "proceed direct" to some fix not on your current flight plan and one you are completely unfamiliar with. You just want to take a quick look at where it's is on the map for general situational awareness before adding it to the flight plan (and on some flights even to know where it is in relation to the fixes already in your flight plan).

I know a number of apps have a simple search box on the map page itself for the purpose.

This may not be ideal, but please try this:

Select "NRST" then "Modify Search", then type the Fix ID into the search box. This will center the map on the fix. Currently Fixes are not graphically shown on the map.

That works pretty well. The extra step is not a big deal. And, if IFR, it does show on the en route chart.

Now that I look at it, any thought of expanding NRST to include (perhaps as separate tabs) navaids and fixes as well as airports?

Jim,

An auto-populating list feature is on out Wish-List. Essentially as you start typing it would begin building closest matches to your text in a scrollable pane. Stay tuned on this, it's a bit of a UI modification to accommodate the building list and some database prep. For now make sure you have Text Search selected and it will try to find a list of what's close.
