You could make that same objection to the use of the GPS itself, but I doubt any of us would want to go back to flying without one.

I welcome this enhancement. Added value and safety as far as I'm concerned.

I was one of probably several people who asked for it.

ALL readouts on any instrument, and on this an any GPS have to be used with judgement and intelligence.
None are totally idiot proof.

Anyone flying who doesn't understand that a GPS AGL reading is subject to several possible sources of error and doesn't have a clue about approximately how closely its numbers can be trusted is on their own.

I'd be more worried about a the possibility of a pilot who is a bit behind the plane blowing the mental calculation of AGL (looking at the sectional for ground altitude and having to mentally substract that from reported current altitude to get AGL).

It's IMO just one more aid to make situational awarness a bit easier and more reliable.

My two cents.
