I'll add my vote for an automatic changeover. I had the opposite problem the other day. I had flown the night before, and when I looked at the iFly in the daylight I almost couldn't find the button to return to daylight mode.

I have had that problem, too. Pretty much had to go by "feel" to get the display back.
