i didn't finish my thoughts before i posted.

If every Repair station shop worked 7 days a week and did 7 instlls a day they could just get all the airplanes equipped before Jan 2020.

I fully support what the FAA is trying to do in upgrading and updating our antiquated ATC system. As a matter of fact, in 52 years of flying, I have no complaints with the FAA and have always received cooperation for myself as well as my students. I don't go on message boards and bad-mouth the FAA or any of our other governmental agencies for that matter.

I do vote and I send lots of emails to The White House as well as my Senators and Congressman. I send mostly suggestions in hopes my opinions get factored into their thought processes.

I don't think I have ever introduced a political issue on aviation forums, but I have certainly responded to a few. I think that is fair and should be expected.

It's easy to sit back and criticize our government officials who are simply trying to do their jobs. Like so many of these programs, we won't know how successful it is until it's over. I suspect it will have a favorable impact.

Unlike you, he hasn't editted his posts so it's easy enough to fact check what he posted. Using the link you provided above and other FAA links, it's true that the rebate is expected to start in late September, awaiting approvals. It's also true that previous installs do not qualify, meaning people who want the rebate have to hold off on installs. So exactly what is your beef with his comment, and where is his "right wing" statement hiding?

James Garner posted his personal opion without attacking anyone personally. We may not agree with his assessment of the FAA but he has a right to his opinion. And as long as that opinion does not incite violence he has the right to state that opinion.

OldPilot on the other hand resorted to name calling and personal attacks. I find this kind of behaviour childish and unacceptable. However I dont believe him to be a bad person. Maybe just having a bad day. James: I'll apologize on his behalf...pay him no attention.

That being said, if any of us dont like what someone wrote, as long as it doesn't violate the rules of this forum, move on. You are not obligated to respond. Hit the next button. Keep the insults to yourself or maybe try them out on your spouse first...see how well that works.

Now to John Miller, the original post, thanks for the post. I hadn't heard of the rebate and I was planning on upgrading my 210 to either the Garmin 345 or the Lynx in September, however I was waiting to see if we'll get 345 support in iFly. The $500 rebate would certainly help with some of the expense and might push me to get it done.

As to Garmin 345 support if Brian is eavesdropping on this thread, please pm me or email me.

Peter

I don't get what my signature is supposed to mean, I'm not famous, I'm not a star and we certainly aren't married.

I'm not sure where 345 support falls in our road map, which means it's not likely to be near term, so I wouldn't hold your breath, unless a strong argument is made from a bunch of users explaining why it's more important than other features/fixes already in our pipeline.
