When version 11 is delivered to iFly devices, it will not include the Real Plan feature (at least, that was my understanding, unless something has changed).  This is due to processing power limitations; it can take tens of minutes to get a solution on 7xx devices that take tens of seconds on high-end phones and tablets or seconds on laptops.  A similiar limitation exists with older iFly devices not having the synthetic vision feature that was introduced some time ago.

So those two statements you quoted can, in fact, be compatible.  It's just that v11 won't be feature-identical across all devices, just like v10 wasn't.

If you use an external ADSB receiver with your device--iFly, tablet, or laptop--then iFly will preferentially use the GPS location provided by that device.  All of the common ADSB receivers these days (including the low-end Stratux) support WAAS.  If you're not using an ADSB receiver with iFly, you're losing the traffic and weather data they provide, which is a huge benefit.

For what it's worth, different folks have different experiences with portable devices.  When I first started flying with iFly, I had a 700 on ship's power.  I realized my mistake only after I suffered a complete loss of ship's power, which took out both my panel GPS and my portable iFly 700.  I then bought an external battery for the device, and flew that way for years, upgrading to a 720 along the way.

When iFly became available on tablets, I shifted to that for better screen resolution and a slightly larger size, which made reading approach plates easier for me.  I have been flying with two tablets in the cockpit and the 720 in my flight bag for many years with no problems.

Don't be disappointed! The 740 is an exceptional device. I've been a user of all of the 7xx series. Just because it won't support this feature is no reason to shun it. It just doesn't have the processing capability. But, it's just so easy to do your Real Plan ( if you really need it) then stream it to your  740. I've been so committed to the iFly that I even cut a new panel in my Comanche to mount it there. It does an outstanding job controlling my auto pilot, even though I have an Avidyne 540, that will rely on it for years to come!
