I have to say that the v9 software is really going to up the ante for all of the other systems out there. This seems to be on par with the ubiquitous 496 that all of my buddies use - except they are stuck paying for XM weather instead of interfacing with the myriad ADSB systems. You guys really have hit it out of the park with this one...

I was ready to pull the trigger on an EFIS for my RV until I bought the 740. No where else will you find a single box for under 2k that includes sectional overlays, ADSB weather, and traffic. Add a reliable AHRS and this box can become my go-to VFR instrument for just about anything short of driving an autopilot.

Don,

Thanks for the awesome feedback. We are super excited about the 740 and it's being extremely well received. Our V9 software features really raises the bar as well and will even will make it to the 700/720's and the App for iPad and Android.

Don't forget the iFly 740 can drive an autopilot too, well for experimentals for sure. Can't recommend it for use in a type certified aircraft. You'd just need the USB-to-Serial cable to pump the data out to your NMEA supported AutoPilot. Here is a link to it on our website. https://www.iflygps.com/shop-t136/usb...

This weekend I had the opportunity to fly with version .26 on my 740, on which I had just upgraded the OS to v.xx.11. After I realized I had to close the GPS application then use "Setup" "Network" to get the WiFi to connect to my SkyGuard transceiver, then launch the GPS application, everything worked great. This was the first time running the .11 OS on the 740. Once connected, I did not notice any WiFi dropouts during the flight. After I landed I shut down the SkyGuard, waited a minute or two, then turned it back on and the 740 recognized it automatically.
Other than that, the 740 + version 9 combination is AWESOME. The 740 in GPS navigation mode is fantastic: Bright screen even with my skylight overhead; lightening fast response; new ball mount is tight and secure. Well worth the upgrade. And software version 9.0.26 is great to fly with. New pop-up menu structure is superb in flight. The traffic display is amazing on the 740, especially the vibrant colors on the 740. The new quick pop-up menu is a real winner. And layering the Wx over any map is implemented extremely well. It amazes me how you guys at AP can keep making the iFly hardware & software better and better, but you have done just that. Thanks. I am sure we'll be suggesting some minor tweaks here and there in the future, but so far the 740 with ver. 9.0.26 is the best portable navigation device on the market, and the SkyGuard TWX integrates so very well with it. Hats off to Adventure Pilot! ====Ralph
