I tried enabling my IPhone to act as a hot spot. The IFly found the IPhone, asked for the access key and appeared to log on. However, when I go to do an update, the IFly says server not found. I looked at the IFly WiFi settings which are set to DHCP but no address is assigned by the phone.

Does anyone here use the IPhone as their interenet connection for updating their 720 and, if so, were there any special settings?

Thanks, Bill

A quick update.....

I tried rebooting the phone

I tried using static IP and DNS values

Neither worked with the IFly although I did get my laptop to connect through my phone :(

Bill,
If you are trying to update of the current Beta software for the 700 or 720, PA staff recently announced that WI-FI updates don't currently work due to software issues.

That MAY explain why you are unable to use an iPhone hot spot to update your 720's software.

I think I am good for the Beta WiFi update issue as I used wifi to do several updates at my house before putting it in the plane.

For what it is worth, my old droid worked great as a wifi hot spot with the iFly. I upgraded to an iphone and it would never work. Now that I have the SkyGuard and use iFly Connect it is a moot point, but just wanted you to know I could never get the iphone to work with it either.
