FWIW,

The generic serial adapter (with a Prolifics chipset as suggested by Walter prior to the iFly store stocking them) that worked beautifully with my '700 for about two years refused to work with my '720. I changed to the serial adapter from iFly and it performs perfectly. I double checked the generic one afterwards and it still worked fine with the '700. I have no idea what the difference is??

I have hooked up the iFly USB-Serial cable to the TRIO autopilot (pin 3 from iFly to pin 7 of TRIO) but the TRIO wiring diagram says it needs a GPS signal "ground" "out" from pin 8 --- is there a matching pin on the iFly cable for this? (as you can tell, I know "nothing").

UPDATE: --- Trio tells me that as long as both units are working off of ships power, I don't need the ground. OK, so I tried the iFly/TRIO setup this morning ---- the Trio is not seeing the iFly --- I have tried both 9600 and 4800 baud rate setups on the NEMA screen, (not sure what all the other options are on the screen) ----- what else should I try?

Thanks,

Ron

GOT IT WORKING! For future info ---- after wiring the iFly USB/Serial pin 3 to the Trio input pin 7, the iFly NMEA output must be configured --- "Menu - Output - NMEA - Extended - Com 1 - autodetect" ---- a couple of reboots later, the Trio and iFly are friends.

Thanks for the help.

OK -- the "friendship" between the Trio autopilot and the iFly 720 seems to be very fractured ---- sometimes they communicate on powering up, and sometimes (more often than not), the Trio does not see the 720 ("no GPS" message). When I go back to the 720 com port and NMEA setup, the 720 does not see the com port (#1) active.

Anyone have this issue?

OK -- this morning took the -6A out for a flight ----- powered up everything EXCEPT the iFly --- then I powered up the iFly --- the Trio and the iFly started talking. So, my question is: does the autopilot have to be "on" (in standby mode) before I turn on the iFly so they will link up?
